Green Forums: Forgotten Forest

Forgotten Forest is a vertically integrated Puerto Rican coffee project founded by Domenico Celli. We’re excited to be joined by Domenico Celli himself for a cupping of coffees from Forgotten Forest’s own farm, Centro Tanamá, single estates from some of their close partners, along with a community lot consisting of a group farmers in Yauco, Puerto Rico’s most famous coffee growing region. For complex economic, political, and historical reasons Puerto Rico has long been ignored by the specialty coffee community, despite being one of the earliest coffee growing origins in the Americas and at one time being the 6th-largest coffee producer on the planet. However, with San Juan-based Cafe Regina’s recent Sprudgie win for best new cafe, where, among others, they serve Forgotten Forest, change is on the horizon. In addition to recently producing some of the highest scoring coffee in Puerto Rico’s history, Forgotten Forest is a social project raising the profile and prestige of Puerto Rican coffee through deep collaborative farm partnerships, innovative agroforestry, radical traceability, and showcasing Puerto Rican excellence across the world. Join us to learn more about Domenico Celli’s unique story, the singular story of Puerto Rican coffee, and to taste some of the best coffee in Puerto Rican history.
